When changing the oil filter, it is important that the oil filter housing gasket is also in good condition. Common symptoms of a failing gasket include the Engine Oil Light coming on, oil dripping from the filter, and lower than normal oil pressure. BMW changed the original gasket (OE# 11427537293) to address the leaks occurring due to a design flaw in the housing. This gasket supercedes Ajusa # 01099000 / OE# 11427537293. The new gaskets (OE# 11428637821) have centering tabs which help seal and prevent leaks.
